Boxing Classes
We offer a fun and effective workout in a safe, all-women environment. The training will help you to:
- Build stamina, develop balance, hand/eye coordination and confidence.
- "Let off steam", work out aggressions, release stress and feel relaxed afterwards.
- Lose weight and tone your body from head to toe.
Because we focus on proper technique and use similar drills used by competitive boxers, you'll not only strengthen and tone your body, but you'll also learn basic fighting skills.
The training includes jumping rope, shadow boxing, punching the heavy bag, speed bag, non-contact partner drills, calisthenics, light weights and stretching.

Beginner/Intermediate Group Class
You will learn the basics of boxing in a relaxed and friendly group environment. You will gain strength and coordination as you become comfortable with shadow boxing and punching the bags. After you have mastered the basics, you will move up to holding mitts and working with a partner.
Typical workouts include advanced cardio—jumping rope and agility ladder drills, calisthenics—pushups, sit ups, and more advanced strength training, as well as shadow boxing, punching bags, and partner drills.
Private Training
Personal fitness and boxing training for men and women is also available.
Competitive fighter's training: As a progression from the group class, we also train competitive boxers. Ask the trainer for more information.
Beginner Boot Camp
Austin Boxing Babes and Yama-Kan Self-Defense School are teaming up to offer a spring boot camp for women who are ready to punch and kick their way into shape. Combining Master Tony Morel’s extensive experience in designing calorie-burning, strength-building workouts that include real-world self-defense applications with Julia Feighner’s technical boxing expertise and her experience in training women, our 8-week boot camp offers students an intensive, full-body workout. The Beginner Boot camp will start with a variety of fitness basics and is designed for women who have been hesitant about joining a kickboxing or boxing exercise program because they feel too out of shape to join an existing class. Group size will be small so that the trainers can modify exercises to meet the participants’ needs and so that students will get a lot of one-on-one attention. By the end of the 8 week program you will be ready to join one of the regular classes offered at the Yama-Kan School.
Tuesday and Thursday’s Kickboxing classes will provide the program foundation. However, Boot Camp clients looking for additional opportunities to workout will be able to participate in Austin Boxing Babes Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning boxing classes for a nominal fee.
